When I first discovered the Invicta Angel watch I wasn't very impressed - I have to be honest I'm not too taken with the plastic watch trend that many watch makers are turning to in order to catch the wrist of younger watch buyers. The Invicta Angel plastic watches are very popular so that is the first Angel watch I discovered. But the truth is the Invicta Angel watch collection is much more complex than the plastic or rubber watches that are so popular.

The Invicta Angel Chrono features the sunray dial in a veritable cornucopia of colors with mother of pearl sub dials. True to form with the Invicta dive watch tradition the Invicta Diamond Chronograph is water resistant to 100 meters. The slightly more dressy diamond Andraste is still water resistant to 50 meters so offers plenty of protection from the elements.

If your style leans more toward the elegant dress watch you'll be pleased to make the acquaintance of the Diamond Angel Elegance watch (model range 0584-0589). The Angel Elegance is a bit more subdued dress watch that has a classy calf skin band and a stainless steel case with flame fusion crystal and 20 white diamonds hand set on the four corner case lugs. The Angel Elegance is a bit hard to find but a very attractive treasure if you do.

How Can We Say the Invicta Pro Diver Beats the Rolex Submariner?

At first impression or gut reaction who in their right mind would say a $10k-$20k watch compares to a $300 watch (or even the $100 Invicta 8926)? Let's take for example the Invicta 9937, Invicta's high end dive watch, and the watch often compared to the Rolex Submariner in quality. Now I'm not going to be so bold as to say the Invicta Pro Diver is superior to the Submariner in every way, but in one rather large way it is.

First off what is the most important aspect of a dive watch, or any watch for that matter? Dive depth? The movement? Or perhaps something as simple as the band? Let's face it if a watch doesn't stay on your wrist comfortably than what good is it? Surprisingly we've found the Invicta watch band on the 9937 to be superior to the Submariner and here's why.

The band on the 9937 Invicta Pro Diver is slightly heavier and has a more solid feel than the Rolex. It is secured to the case with screws rather than pins that tend to bend or pop out. Furthermore the clasp on the Invicta Pro Diver is thicker, stronger and closes more securely. Not to mention the cost to replace a Rolex band, I'm sure you can guess why that thought makes me cringe.

Both the Invicta 9937 and the Rolex Submariner have high quality Swiss Movement (but we'll give the Rolex an edge with movement quality), they both have a sapphire crystal with cyclops eye over the date window, and have cosmetically similar crowns. The Rolex has an edge here as well with a dive depth of 300m vs 200m for the Invicta Pro Diver. Another stylish edge the Invicta has over the Submariner is the skeleton back - there is nothing cooler than being able to see the intricate movement in action in the Invicta Pro Diver.

Features to Consider When Buying an Invicta Pro Diver Watch

Invicta has many different styles within the Pro Diver collection, but two of their top dogs as previously mentioned are the Invicta 8926 and the Invicta 9973. Both are very similar in appearance but a bit different in quality - and price.

At under $100 the 8926 can't be beat for a stylistically equivalent watch to the Rolex Submariner, but for a very reasonable price range around $300 the 9973 is the choice for those looking to match the Submariner quality.

To break it down here is how the high end Invicta Pro Diver compares with the more affordable Invicta options.

Crystal: High end sapphire crystal vs mid-end (and more scratch prone) mineral crystal

Bottom line if you are looking for the most accurate movement and quality features go with the Invicta 9973 Pro Diver if the look is all you need you'll be plenty happy with the quality and style of the Invicta Pro Diver 8926.
